An early stainless-steel Rolex Oyster from the war years, its silvered dial with black Arabic numerals signed 'Rolex Oyster Athlete' above 'Precision', a scarce period designation seldom seen in the mainstream literature. Reference 4127, hand-wound, with the screw-down Oyster crown and case-back that built Rolex's name for durability. The serial places it in the early 1940s, among the pre-Bubbleback Oysters that made the reputation. Rare, and quietly historic, presented on a black leather strap. Condition note: a 1 cm hairline scratch at nine-to-ten o'clock, with otherwise honest wear consistent with age.
